With the month of March here at last, I know that I can't be the only one who has spring cleaning on their mind!  Last Spring I was busy organizing when I would be washing my walls in my home, and it occurred to me that I should be making more careful choices about what exactly goes on my walls.  

I want to take the mystery (and quite frankly the tediousness) out of researching our Canadian wall murals and I would like to share with you why our wall art is eco friendly.

1. Our wall murals are made in Canada

At Mod we have chosen to partner with sustainable wallpaper manufacturers that manufacture our wall murals in Canada .  This means that our sustainable wall covering designs are printed and shipped without having to use merchant ships as our primary means of getting our product to you, reducing our carbon footprint.

All science lessons aside, all of our Canadian wall murals are biodegradable.  When I was researching different manufacturers I thought to myself that sometimes people change their minds on the wall murals that they had purchased, and so what I wanted to do was partner with a manufacturer that makes this change of heart guilt-free.

Well, we are happy to report that our manufacturers source their materials from the boreal forests of northern Europe that practice environmentally rigid forest management culling activities.

Our wall mural paper is made from a combination of the finest wood pulp blended with polyester fibers (which increases its strength).  

4. The composition and finish makes our mural paper mildew resistant, bacteria resistant, and fire resistant

One of the most common ways for PVC and other toxins to sleuth into your home is actually in the form of a treatment to a material.  As soon as you need a material to behave a different way, you have to apply some sort of a chemical (whether it be artificially or organically sourced) to it.
 

Good news here with our Canadian wall murals:  the composition and finish makes our mural paper mildew resistant and bacteria resists but it doesn't use any additional treatments which is actually slightly toxic. 

And our wall murals are fire resistant, as proven by tests done on our wall murals to achieve a grade "A" fire resistant property.

5. We use eco friendly and biodegradable glue to make our Canadian pre-pasted wall murals eco friendly and safe to install

Unless you live in the Toronto and Montreal area and have scheduled an installation appointment with us, it is most likely that you'll be installing the wall mural yourself.  Have no fear: we use eco friendly and biodegradable glue! Sometimes we forget that most glues are actually toxic and that as they dry, they can sometimes effect the air quality in the room (depending on the glue). 

Without using any plastic material such as vinyl, our wall mural paper is unique in that it pre-pasted with a water-based and odourless glue.     

Well not only is it easy to apply our wall murals into your home, but it also sticks very well so that you can sleep soundly knowing that the wall mural adhesive is healthy and eco friendly.
